Story:
I'm truly a sinner saved by His grace! The whole concept of God using ordinary folks to make much of His name is an easy one for me to grasp. I know I am not exceptional, so it is without a doubt by Him and through Him that I am here today. What an amazing journey and a privilege it has been so far!
I was born in Austin, TX, and spent the majority of my childhood south of Houston in the Clear Lake area. After graduating from Clear Lake High School, I attended Stephen F. Austin State University. I grew up around small entrepreneurial businesses, and knew that someday I wanted to be a part of that world. It became my singular focus. I was busily pursuing the things of this world with reckless abandon through my twenties until I met my future wife Tracy in 1995. We married in 1996 and settled in The Woodlands where our three beautiful children Kendall, Connor, and Mackenzie were born. It has been an incredible 15 years with many adventures along the way.
I had no real concept of what church could look like and no particular interest in God until after I became a parent. At Tracy's insistence, we started attending a church in The Woodlands "for the good of the children". I reluctantly agreed, and soon after we were both saved. It was an incredible transformation of every aspect of our lives. God moved powerfully in our family and we became very involved in the church at that point. I was reading and listening to everything I could get my hands on as God had put a hunger for knowledge and truth within me. The history of God's relentless pursuit became evident with the benefit of hindsight. We began to volunteer, serve and ultimately lead in our time there. This path would ultimately lead us to step out in faith in 2007 with several other families to help start Woodlands Point.
God continues to grow and stretch our family as we daily come to a deeper understanding of the gospel and its implications on our lives and the lives of others!
Vision for Woodlands Point:
My prayer is that Woodlands Point would continue to be a church that preaches the gospel unapologetically. And that this would produce a saving faith. It is through the bold proclamation of the gospel that disciples are made and that the mission of God on this earth is lived out. I pray that we would be a people and a church who in word and by deed demonstrate Christ's love every day. I pray that our staff and our flock would be well loved and cared for during this process.
