Story:
Jason grew up in the Dallas area most of his life. His dad has been a worship pastor for many years, so church was always a very important part of his home life growing up. While Jason placed his faith in Christ at a young age it was not until late in his teen years that he began to understand the significance of Christ and truly began to pursue Him on a daily basis.
Jason graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Speech Communications. During his time at A&M he had the opportunity to help lead various ministries on campus, and ultimately spent the majority of his time traveling from College Station to The Woodlands where he worked at a church with junior high and high school students.
In the Fall semester of his senior year Jason met his future wife, Emily, in an Intercultural Communications class. After walking her to her next class Jason knew that this was the girl he was going to marry. It was only a matter of time. Less than nine months later both graduated from A&M and were married just a few weeks after. Jason and Emily now have three beautiful daughters - Masie, Presley and Darby.
For the next few years Jason worked as a student ministry pastor and began his studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. He later transitioned into working with young adults as a community pastor. Throughout that time Jason was always struggling with the call of God on his life. He knew that God was molding him and preparing him to be a lead pastor one day, but when that would happen and how it would happen were always terrifying thoughts to him.
In late spring of 2007 Jason was overwhelmed with the clarity of God's call on his life. It was time. With the support of a like-minded church in Austin, The Austin Stone Community Church, the wise counsel of one his seminary professors he grew especially close with, and confirmation after confirmation from people he respected and trusted right here in The Woodlands community, Jason knew what he was supposed to do.
As a result, Woodlands Point Community Church was born.
Vision for Woodlands Point:
I long to see Woodlands Point be a consistent missional presence in our community, our city and our world. My prayer is that the people who make up Woodlands Point would be passionate lovers of the Word of God and affectionate worshipers of Jesus Christ who are authentically connected with one another in deep and meaningful relationships. Woodlands Point is committed to being a Gospel-centered and Gospel-driven church...so I pray that in all we do and through all we are the truth of the Gospel would be unashamedly preached and undeniably lived out.
