Story:
Trace spent most of his teenage life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after moving from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He became a Christian his senior year in high school through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Although he went to church as a young boy, he really never understood God's grace and what Jesus did on the cross. When he heard the gospel clearly presented, he invited Jesus to be his savior. It was not long thereafter that he attended a Christian conference, heard Josh McDowell speak, and sensed God calling him to ministry. He has been involved in various ministries ever since.
Following high school, Trace attended LSU and it was during this time that he felt God leading him to seminary. Trace prepared for this by majoring in Classics (Greek and Latin). During Trace's time at LSU he continued his involvement in Campus Crusade and eventually served as youth pastor at Community Bible Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While at LSU, he also met his best friend Lee and this past year they celebrated 35 years of marriage. They have three grown children and five grandchildren.
Upon graduation from LSU, Trace attended and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in New Testament studies. While at Dallas, Trace took a year away from seminary and did a graduate degree in New Testament studies at Texas Christian University. Following graduation from Dallas Seminary in 1984, Trace pursued doctoral work in New Testament studies at The University of Chicago while also teaching in the New Testament and Pastoral Ministry Departments of Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. While teaching at Grace Seminary, Trace also pastored Grace Bible Church in Berne, Indiana.
In 1988, Trace sensed God leading him to get more involved in market-place ministry and so he pursued a legal degree at LSU. Upon graduation in 1991, Trace and his family moved to Houston where he has been practicing law ever since. While in Houston, and particularly in The Woodlands, Trace has continued to do ministry in a number of areas. He has done extensive small group ministry, taught in the New Testament Department of Dallas Seminary's Houston extension, and currently teaches Greek at the College of Biblical Studies.
He and Lee came to Woodlands Point early on and Trace has ministered principally in the "equipping" area.
Vision for Woodlands Point:
I long to see a place where people come to know and experience God's marvelous grace through the gospel and then become mature Christ followers who worship passionately, who grow in their understanding of God's Word, who celebrate and live in community, and who live on mission not only in The Woodlands but also in the world. Although I am an ongoing project, I desire God to continue His work of transforming me into a man that reflects the character of Jesus.
