Jesus Died For Us

The Gospel tells us we did not earn or deserve the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf. The Gospel also tells us there is nothing we could ever do to outdo what Jesus has done for us. The good news of the Gospel allows us to rest knowing we have been fully loved and fully accepted by God through Jesus. Not because we earned it and not because we somehow worked to deserve it. This is why we celebrate His death; this is why His scandalous, grotesque murder is actually good news for us - it accomplishes everything necessary for us to be reconciled back to God – it achieves everything we so desperately needed but are so deficient in being able to accomplish for ourselves. As we prepare to celebrate the “good news” of Jesus’ death, here are some verses to read through, pray through, memorize and meditate on this week:
