August KidsPoint Lesson: Grace
8.4.2011 // Amanda Holmstrom
This month in KidsPoint we are introducing a new virtue, that of Grace. We will be defining grace as getting something great you don’t deserve. We all need rescue and grace from God, yet none of use deserve the gift of Grace that God gives. He offers us unconditional acceptance and forgiveness even though we are an undeserving people. He is the unobligated giver of Grace. He pursues us no matter how we got lost. He paid the ultimate price in pursuing an undeserving people by sending Jesus to save us. As we teach our children about Grace, we will do so through 3 parables in which Jesus illustrates our need succinctly: That of the lost sheep (who foolishly wandered away), the lost coin (which was lost through no fault of it’s own), and that of the lost son (who actively rebelled against his father). We hope through these stories, our children will walk away understanding God’s grace is for everyone and there is NOTHING we can do to make God love us anymore, or anything bad that would make Him love us any less. When our children begin to have a grasp on what God did and does for them, it will change the way they look at Him and they will have a better appreciation of the grace He shows them. They will also be better equipped to treat others with grace by loving others the way Jesus loves them. This month we will learn the virtue of Grace through the following lessons:
Memory Verse: “God’s grace has saved you because your faith in Christ. Your salvation doesn’t come from anything you do. It is God’s gift.” Ephesians 2:8 Incoming search terms:
