September KidsPoint Lesson: Knowledge
9.1.2011 // Amanda Holmstrom

Knowledge….What a great topic to be focused on this month as school is back in session.  We send our kiddos to school hoping they will gain academic knowledge.  Well, this month in KidsPoint we are going to be talking about the connection between KNOWLEDGE and God’s character as shown through God’s BIG story.

There is so much to know in this world it can be overwhelming at times. Luckily, we have Jesus.  Jesus was always able to take complicated things and simplify them down to what REALLY matters. As we talk about knowledge this month, we aren’t just going to talk about gaining, learning and gathering new information.  We are going to talk about really understanding what’s important to know. It turns out the three things we want to focus on are the three basic truths of our KidsPoint curriculum and they come straight out of Luke 2:52.

  1. I can trust God no matter what.
  2. I need to make wise choices.
  3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

There is no better way to learn and understand these three basic truths than to read from The Bible to learn and discover from the one who teaches us best — Jesus.

This month we will begin to increase our KNOWLEDGE of three basic truths by using the following lessons:

  • Since God knows everything, I should discover what God says. (12-year-old Jesus in the Temple) • Luke 2:41-52
  • When I discover what God says, it helps me trust Him more. (Jesus baptized by John the Baptist) • Luke 3:21-23
  • When I discover what God says, I can make wiser choices. (Jesus is tempted in the desert) • Luke  4:1-13

Memory Verse:

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:52, NIV
